What this site is

This website is an informational resource about funding citizenship of the Republic of Vanuatu with cryptocurrency. It explains how the Development Support Programme works, what it costs and how digital assets are converted before a contribution reaches the state.

What this site is not

This site is not a government body. It is not the Vanuatu Citizenship Office, not the Citizenship Commission, not the Financial Intelligence Unit and not the Department of Immigration, and it is not affiliated with, endorsed by or acting on behalf of any of them. Where those bodies are named it is to describe their role or to point you at what they have published.

Nothing here is legal, tax or investment advice, and reading it creates no professional relationship. Your circumstances, your nationality and the composition of your assets all change the answer, and only a qualified adviser who knows your file can give you one.

No guarantee of any outcome

Citizenship of Vanuatu is granted by the Vanuatu Citizenship Commission at its discretion. No agent, adviser or website can guarantee that an application will be approved, that it will complete within any particular period, or that a fee already paid will be returned if it is refused. The due diligence fee in particular is non-refundable, including where the check is not passed. Any timescale mentioned on this site is an industry observation, not a commitment by the government.

Accuracy and change

Programme rules, fees and visa arrangements change, sometimes at short notice and sometimes retroactively in their effect on travel. Figures and rules on this site are checked against official sources at the time of writing, and the date on each page shows when that was. They may have moved since. Confirm anything you intend to rely on with the relevant authority or with your own adviser before you act on it.

Travel and visa information

Statements about visa-free access describe the position as published when the page was written. Entry requirements are set by each destination and can change without notice. The European Union suspended visa-free access for Vanuatu citizens in February 2023 and the United Kingdom made Vanuatu a visa national country in July 2023; both now require a visa. Always verify entry conditions with the destination's own authorities before booking travel.

Cryptocurrency

The Government of Vanuatu does not accept payment in Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency. Where digital assets are used, an authorised agent converts them to United States dollars and remits fiat. Conversion carries its own risks — price movement between quote and settlement, spread, and the compliance requirements attached to the origin of the funds. Digital assets can fall in value as well as rise.
